The human factor is often one of the most forgotten subjects in Information Security; even though it is easier to trick people than to break through security technology. Therefore, social engineering is often used as a favorite way to gain access to sensitive information. Most fail to pay enough attention to this ongoing problem as it is one of the key attack vectors which gets organizations into real trouble. It is on this premise, Jelle wants to educate and help organizations and users make smart security decisions. Throughout his career, he has been involved in both the technological as well as the business side of Information Security. Prior to joining KnowBe4, the provider of the world’s largest security awareness training and simulated phishing platform, Jelle was responsible for building an AI driven platform for Security Operations. During this time, he discovered that the bad guys are quite often capable of bypassing the security technologies through social engineering. He witnessed the adverse effects of forgetting the human factor as a line of defense. The ability to help change this is his primary reason for joining KnowBe4. Working as a Technical Evangelist for KnowBe4, Jelle helps organizations of all sizes to get a better understanding of why we need more emphasis on the human factor, and how they can manage the ongoing problem of social engineering.
